A word from our Chief Editors

Welcome back to the January issue of the DUSES newsletter! This month’s theme is on the future of the energy industry.
Another month, another issue! Our writers emerge from the depths of summative season writing about how the energy industry is advancing . Some look towards the near-future, examining what the industry could look like in our lifetime, whilst others choose to take a guess, as the title suggests, at what it could look like in the year 3000…

In the battle of the preeminent emerging technology, hydrogen and nuclear fusion were firmly pitted against each other. In the red corner (or, should I say green), both Indi and Jean-Louis write about hydrogen, looking at its role in the future of transport and the Spanish energy mix. In the blue, Taliesin and Magnus focus on fusion in their articles assessing its viability and future (potentially dystopian) impacts on society.

Outside of the big two, Zachary writes about some lesser known renewable energy technologies that could also contribute to the energy transition.

Thank you once again to all the editors, writers and designers who contributed to this month’s publication!
